Ex- National Football League star Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an attempted murder accusation stemming from a gunfire that occurred in May, with his counsel entering a not guilty response on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his transfer to Florida. Brown, among the most famous players in the NFL, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was held after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has already submitted a formal not guilty response to the attempted murder accusation. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as soon as Wednesday morning for a bond proceeding, Eiglarsh stated.

According to his arrest order, Brown is accused of grabbing a pistol from a security staffer after a star boxing event in May and firing a couple of rounds at a person he had confronted with before. The reported target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed authorities that one of the bullets scraped his nape.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was merely protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was forced to take were exclusively in defense against the reported victim’s aggressive behavior. Brown was attacked that time and responded within his lawful privilege to protect himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not promptly apprehended because initially police did not consider Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu gave a detailed account about the incident to authorities and named Brown as the gunman, the affidavit states.

According to his digital posts, Brown had been staying in Dubai for several months. In a post after the altercation, Brown said he was safeguarding himself because he was “jumped by multiple persons who attempted to steal my jewelry and inflict bodily damage to me.”
