Aircraft Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Frequented California Coast
A helicopter hovering near a well-attended southern California beach suddenly began spiraling out of control, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm trees as spectators observed.
Videos uploaded on social media capture the helicopter beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then descending near the edge of the beach, where it becomes wedged amidst palm trees and a staircase close to the shoreline route.
First Aid Update
Emergency responders said five people were transported to a medical facility involving two individuals who were in the chopper and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on that day.
Three people on the street were hurt. Specifics on their injuries were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
